How Long Do Customers Keep Their Rentals?

FeedFlix is a site which examines and portrays usage statistics for subscribers to US DVD rental giant Netflix, but the habits it reveals should be of interest to Canadian DVD renters as well. It tells you how long you've kept your discs on average, how much they cost per disc based on your usage, etc. The usage data is intriguing, for instance, the average Feedflix viewer keeps his discs at home for the following durations:

0-2 days: 1%
3-4 days: 24%
5-6 days: 22%
7-9 days: 23%
10-20 days: 19%
21-30 days: 6%
31+ days: 5%

So it looks like roughly half of people turn their discs around in about a week, though about 10% keep them for 3 weeks or longer. We are slightly surprised, as we'd think turnaround would be slightly quicker, but this probably reflects the fact that many people watch their films at the weekend, whenever they happen to arrive in the mail.

FeedFlix provides an excellent service in our opinion, and best of all, it does this for free and effortlessly, hooking into Netflix's own RSS queue feed for as long as you like after a simple, 15-second install.

Now if only someone would come up with a program to do the same for Zip or Canflix over here...

That is a shocking number of people who keep their discs over a week! I always try to get them for the weekend, watch them, then repeat, so I always have something to watch at the end of the week.

Don't really have time to devote to a feature film during the week, mainly TV then, but I do want the latest hollywood blockbuster for a saturday night.
